Originally painted for the Pennsylvania Railroad in a hopper grey scheme, this car eventually made its way to the Conrail roster where it was repainted a hopper red color, and lettered for “grain service only”. New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania Railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
