Description
This 89’ tri-level closed autorack is green with white letteirng and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1977 in a series of 200 cars for Southern Railway, these 89’ cars had Portec racks installed and were assigned to the GM plant in Roseland, Georgia. The 89’ enclosed autorack design became the universal standard used by most railroads. With end loading doors and enclosed sides, this design prevents vandalism and pilferage and helps to protect vehicles from the elements.
