This 40’ double-sheathed wood reefer, with vertical brake wheel is black with yellow sides and runs on Andrews trucks. Built in the early-1920s and rebuilt in 1936, this reefer was used exclusively for meat transport between slaughterhouses and distributors. This RR-W class car belonged to a series of over 2,000 similar cars, and could be seen in trains all across the country. Founded in 1859, Santa Fe was one of the largest railroads in North America up until 1996, when it merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF.
