Alaska Railroad is a Class II railroad that was founded in 1914, and was completed in 1923. It currently runs between Seward and Fairbanks along 656 miles of track. The ARR serves numerous communities with both freight and passenger service to this day, and is a major tourist attraction in the summer months. In 2023, the ARR celebrated 100 years of operation.
