This 100-ton three-bay hopper with Barber Roller Bearing trucks was built for New York Central, and was later repainted in New York Central green. Some years later it was painted Conrail hopper red. New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania Railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
