Built in 1947, this scale test car eventually made it to CSX through mergers of constituent roads. A scale test car is a small, heavily weighted MOW service car used to calibrate track scales in railroad yards. Scale test cars are a specific, precisely known weight, which is then compared to readouts on track scales. Any difference indicates an adjustment is needed.
