WPĀ® is a registered trademark of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Built in 1923 in an order of 775 units, these wood-sheathed reefers became a mainstay in the Pacific Fruit Express fleet, used all-across the Western Pacific network. After 20 years of service, most cars were rebuilt which allowed another 10 to 12 years of service before being retired in the mid-1950s and replaced with newer models.
